Using Privacy Certificates to Increase Credibility
There are companies like Trust-E and BBB that offer a privacy adherence certificate and an electronic graphic logo / stamp image, that website’s may place on their website. Before they authorize you to place the graphic image saying for example, “Trust-E Certified” - the website must conform to a stringent privacy policy laid out by them. This seal of authority is particularly usefull for B2C sites that require members to register and collect user-data during registration.
Since more and more consumers have seen the trust-e logo on more and more websites, this has become a sort of standard and norm (specially for B2C websites) that care about their customer’s or member’s privacy.
You should consider getting one for you B2C website, if you have a large community based membership site that collects user information when members sign up. The seal is pretty expensive for smaller sites, but worth it if you can afford it. The price slabs are based on a sliding scale based on your companies yearly turn-over, as below:
| $0 - $999,999 | $649 |
| $1,000,000 - $2,999,999 | $799 |
