How to use Link Swapping to Rank Higher Up on Google
This trick is bieng used by many of the top bloggers. It tricks the Google system (legally) into making your page seem popular and thus indexed higher up in searches.
The first thing you need to do is to define which keyword you would like to rank higher up for in Google. Goto this page in Overture , and key in your target keywords. The form will spit out the average number of searches performed in the last month using those keywords and a combination of similar keywords. Carefully study that list, and try out other keyword combinations that you believe to match your site content and what you believe users will be looking for and using in their searches. Its very important that you get this right and that you are able to find the best keyword combination with the maximum targetted traffic.
Your next step, will be to find other bloggers or websites to link to you in exchange for you linking to them. This is where you can exploit the Google indexing system called Page Rank…
If you do not already know what this is … Google Page Rank is basically their algorithm for ranking pages in search results. They figured that the more people link to you – the more your site is popular. After all if people are linking to you, then obviously you have some good content on your site. Therefore, they will give you a good page rank. And further… if the page linking to you – is a high page rank itself – then your page rank will be affected even more and given more weightage. (if someone popular or credible talks about you – people listen more – and you probably have something good – if a credible source talks about you).
So, now the trick is to get others to put up links on their website that point to your site. Before you start doing this, you should create a page or blog which contains your “keywords combination” in its title. You should tell the people who link to you to include this keywords combination in their link to your site. This is because, if more and more people use the same keyword combination to link to your website – your website will rank higher and higher up – when people search Google with this keyword combination.
You’re probably thinking, thats all fine – but how do I get others to link to me? What incentive can I give them in return?
My first answer is the obvious – link back to them for keywords they want!
The second answer is to setup a neat little blogging or reviewing trick, that I call a “Review My Blog“ system.
This should be setup on your website for all your readers and visitors to read and participate in. The title of the blog *must* contain the keywords combination you want your site popularized for… and so the blog title should read – “blah blah blah – Reveiw My Blog” . For example if your keyphrase is “make money online” – then the blog title should be “Make Money Online – Review My Blog” or another example could look like – “Buy Used Books – Review My Blog”. This is a very very nifty trick that is perfectly legal and Google allows one to do it. If you missed the link above, take a look at the full working live example here.
