This may seem very obvious to most entrepreneurs out there - but very often many of us get distracted and fail to succeed because we simply get tired of or fail to cash in on a strategy that “works”. Successful individuals, corporations, businesses and ventures - ALL follow this cardinal formula for success.

Simply put - to succeed in any venture one must identify what is producing a positive effect and exploit it as much as possible to produce magnifying and ever growing results and further success. The key to succeeding is to derive a magic formula and strategy that produces positive results (positive cash flow) - and then to keep “hammering” it on and on. One must keep juicing and milking the cow - over and over again… thus focusing and implementing the strategy that is giving back more (to your level of satisfaction).

Focus Focus Focus

Before this stage, when you are deriving your strategy and executing your action steps, it is very important to be alert to see which strategy/actions are producing positive results to your satisfaction. Coming up with a winning strategy is only half the game. Once you figure out what is working - simply keep at it… putting more and more focus on it.

Then, quickly derive variants of this strategy that are similar and can bring in results. Brainstorm on how you can vary our successful strategy to milk the cow even more.

An Example Case

As an example - if you put up 3 videos on Youtube to help your target audience, and it produces good results in the form of driving visitors to your website from Youtube - you may consider the following “strategy branches”.

(a) Upload your video onto other popular top video sharing sites like dailymotion, metacafe, revver etc. (tip - get on tubemogul.com to do multiple uploads of your videos across top video sites and track their performance on each of them).

(b) Create more videos that are similar and that will appeal to your target audience

(c) Try to create premium content that you can sell to your audience once they are hooked - and specially the ones whom you have built up trust in (the people who have viewed most of your videos or frequent viewers)

Points to Keep in Mind

1. Derive various strategies that to capture and engage your target audience.
2. Keep executing each of them equally and in a parallell manner (with various action steps for each strategy).
3. Closely monitor the results.
4. When you see a strategy working as a result of your action steps, zoom in on it. Focus 80% of your energy and effort on it.
5. Keep milking the cow by repeating the action over and over again… to get growing results and responses.
6. Quickly derive variants to this “working” strategy - and hit your potential audience with these variants. Closely watch the results of these strategy variants and new action steps - and again zoom in and repeat and re-enforce the variants that are producing the results.
7. Hire or delegate people to help you perform your tasks and then go back to step one to explore more strategies, action steps and measure results.
8. Once you dominate one vertical and have a very good positive cash flow expand your business into other related areas or other businesses. (This step is only for the highly ambitious!).

Note: once you master each task, train someone and then delegate them to perform it well, so you will be freed up to expand further into other areas. You will need to monitor them once you delegate the task. Make sure you do not give away any business secrets or crucial tricks - specially to someone who will work with you on a temporary basis. You need to find a good balance between what you feel is ok to reveal and what is not necessary… there is a very fine line between them.
